Course and Qualification Requirements

This qualification reflects the role of individuals employed as beauticians to provide a range of beauty services including nail, waxing, lash and brow, basic make-up services and spray tan.

These individuals possess a range of well-developed technical and customer service skills where discretion and judgement is required and are responsible for their own outputs. This includes client consultation on beauty products and services.

This course includes pre-clinical skills and retail selling techniques but does not include facials, body treatments or massage techniques.

The student is equipped with skills to work in a Beauty Salon, Department Store and in a variety of beauty practices.

This Qualification is under a Certificate 3 Guarantee Government Funded Program.

What is the Certificate 3 Guarantee?

 Implemented from 1 July 2013, for residents of Queensland.

A key initiative under these reforms is the Certificate 3 Guarantee which provides eligible individuals with access to a subsidised training place in an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) certificate III level qualification under the Queensland Government's five-year training reform action plan.

The Certificate 3 Guarantee supports eligible individuals to complete their first post-school Certificate III level qualification and increase their skills to move into employment, re-enter the workforce or advance their career.

What qualification is subsidised?

SHB30115 Certificate III in Beauty Services (see below)

Who is eligible to receive training?

To be eligible to enrol in the Certificate 3 Guarantee, prospective students must:

  • Be aged 15 years or above, and no longer at school.
  • Permanently reside in Queensland.
  • Be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrant), temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen.
  • Not hold, and not be enrolled in, a Certificate III or higher level qualification, not including qualifications completed at school and foundation skills training.

Certificate 3 Guarantee entitlement.

Eligible participants will no longer be eligible for a subsidised training place under the Certificate III Guarantee once they complete a Certificate Level III qualification.

Concessional student status applies when:

  • The student holds a Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card issued under Commonwealth law, or, is the partner or a dependant of a person who holds a Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card and is named on the card.
  • The student provides the “PQS” (our Academy) with an official form under Commonwealth law confirming that the student, their partner or the person of whom the student is a dependant is entitled to concessions under a Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card.
  • The student is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
  • The student is a school student and is enrolled in a VETiS program. (This may include young people in detention).
  • The student has a disability.
  • The student is an adult prisoner.

Do I need to contribute to the cost of training?

There will be a co-contribution (out of pocket) fee which will need to be paid by the student.  The out-of-pocket fee is set out on following pages.

How can I participate in the program?

Rejuvi Nails & Beauty Training Academy is now accepting enrolments for the SHB30115 Certificate III in Beauty Services qualification being offered under the Certificate 3 Guarantee Program.

Arrangements for an appointment are necessary to collect and complete the relevant forms;

These are:

  • enrolment form,
  • eligibility form,
  • copy of three proofs of identification,
  • statutory declaration,
  • Literacy and Numeracy indicator.

Duration

This program will be delivered in our organisation’s Training Centre. Students are required to attend 3 days each week plus invest additional self paced study hours outside classroom time to complete the theory elements of the course and practice what has been learnt in class. Duration of this course is 22 weeks.

Course Inclusions  

Student Kits

Kits are carefully selected for students to use whilst practicing their learned skills both in class and during private study times.  Student kits will be issued after each block of training.

All training materials used in class are supplied by the Academy at no additional cost.

Kits consist of:

Spray tan

Booth, spray gun, hose, compressor, solution, accessories. (Valued $350)

Make-up 

Brushes, eye shadows, lip colour, lip and eyebrow pencils, mascara, foundation, blush. (valued $200)

Manicure/Pedicure

Manicure and pedicure soak, exfoliating lotion, massage cream lotion, cuticle oil, cuticle remover, orangewood stick, stainless steel cuticle pusher. Files, nail clippers (valued $130)

Waxing

Wax pots x 2, cleanser, pre waxing oil, hot wax, strip wax, wax paper, soothing cream, wax solvent. (valued $200)

Lash n Brow

Tinting colours x 3, tint papers, developing cream, kidney dish. (valued $50)

Lash Extensions

Individual lashes x 3 sizes, tape, gel pad, mascara wand, scissors, tweezers, glue primer, lash ext remover gel, jade stone. (valued $150)

Qualifications and statement of attainment.

Our Qualifications and Statements of Attainment comply with the Standards for Registered Training Organisations registered with ASQA and Australian Qualifications Framework when issuing Qualification and Statements of Attainment.

A Statement of Attainment is Nationally recognised verification that a student has successfully completed part of a course level or units of competency within a full qualification.

The completed units of competency can be credited to other courses, Certificate III in Beauty Services, or higher levels within the Beauty stream.

Students can complete a “short course” which forms part of a full qualification, if they only wish to provide services of that chosen course but may wish to add to the qualification at a later date.
